Have a SWEET Christmas

Hi Everyone! I have a fun quick tutorial on creating backgrounds using stamps over on the Penny Black blog today. Be sure to check it out to see how I created this card. I was shopping at Crate and Barrel last week (a rare treat with two little kiddos) and noticed a HUGE trend in jewel tones.  I walked away inspired and had to incorpoate them in this card. I love how the tiny bit of purple warms up the whole card. I have a busy day today with the kids trick or treating at my husbands work and then we'll do it again around the neighborhood on Sunday. I hope you stay safe, warm and dry (it always rains here on Halloween) weekend! Stamps: Penny Black Ginger Joy , Crystalline

Merry Christmas Pointsetta

Hi Everyone! I've been busy creating a lot of fun Christmas cards lately and I'm excited to share this one with you today that is featured on the Penny Black blog . I created this background using the beautiful Footnote stamp. Using a stamp-a-ma-jig I was able to quickly create a quick elegant background. The flower was stamped using Christmas Star and inked it up with Distress Inks. I stamped it once for the main flower and then again to create a few leaves. The card was finished with a button embelishment and a sentiment I love from the In a Pear Tree clear set. Have a great day! Stamps: Footnote 3857H, Christmas Star 4104K, In a pear tree 30-035

Stamping on Wood

Hi Everyone! While in a stamp store a couple of months ago I made the most wonderful discovery! Wood! Mabye its been there all along and I never noticed it. But this time I did and I had to have it. Now its been sitting on self for a long time waiting and waiting. I didn't want to waste it after all. At last I decided to be brave and created this card. First I stamped Penny Black's  Inclinations using Memories Dye Ink on to the wood panel. I also used a few other fun techniques on this card. To create the flower I stamped Burst of Blue , then filled it in with text using a sentiment from HERE . Finally to add color to the flower and mat around the wood I inked up an acrylic block with Distress Ink, sprayed it with water and then layed the acrylic block over the paper (a trick I learned from Lisa Spangler -thanks!). Finally, for those of you that might be interested the wood I used is by Creative Imaginations. It is called "real wood thin cherry" and is a veneer back

Three Flowers Thank You Card

Hi Everyone! I'm often asked how I have the time to craft and create with 2 little kiddos at home. The truth is I don't have hours and hours to sit down by myself in the peach and quiet of my craft room. Instead, I take the small moments throughout the day to plan, stamp, color, embellish, assemble, photograph and blog my cards. This card is a great example. While trying to fall asleep a few nights ago I came up with the sketch for this card and I decided on the stamps and colors I wanted to use. The next day I experimented with those ideas throughout the morning and then finished it up while my daughter took a nap. My son (who just turned three) loves to craft with me and enjoys inking up stamps, cutting with scissors and punching circles while I work. But keep in mind he is 3. :) Craft time only usually lasts about 15 minutes. :) :) I've really been enjoying THIS Memento Ink set lately. It just seems to have all the colors I love and need. Do you see that piece of w

A Terrifying Halloween

Hi Everyone! Today on the Penny Black blog the design team is focusing on fall. I decided to have some more fun with the sketch I first used HERE . I love reusing sketches or looking back at older cards to get a jump start on a new design. I used the Penny Black  Dark House  stamp to create a spooky little scene. I added fog with vellum and paper pieced the moon. For a little fun I added a strip of glitter to the top and bottom of the focal point (a halloween card can have some sparkle, right?) and finished the card of with the a Terrifying sentiment. I hope you had a great day! Thanks for stopping by! Terrifying Halloween Card: Dark House 3499F, Terriflying 3711E

Trick or Treat Friend

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to share this card with you today. Its also featured over on the Penny Black blog today. So be sure to visit over there and check it out! I took the super cute Mimi & Friend stamp and decided to use just the Friend. :) She reminded me of a little girl out on Halloween so I search for a treat basket for her and found the perfect pumpkin in the Trick or Treat set. I trimmed the top of the pumpkin, lined it with black ink and added a strap with black string. Mimi's friend is ready to go! I appreciate you stopping by today! Have a great day!
